Ravina and Rikesh are an amazing couple whose wedding I had the privilege of photographing last October. I have known Ravina for a few years, I knew she would plan this wedding to perfection and I was really looking forward to photographing the big day.
As a wedding photographer I love travelling to new locations to photograph beautiful weddings. Ravina and Rikesh’s Asian wedding was no exception! The wedding guests came from Canada, the US, India and, of course, from all over the UK. They had their Hindu wedding and reception party at the magnificent Ladywood Estate in Leicester.
The morning fog in this countryside wedding venue provided amazing views – a wedding photographer’s dream surroundings. As the mist lingered in the horizon, Rikesh arrived accompanied by his family and friends, dancing to the beats of the dhol which played by a young family member. Both families officially met and then Rikesh was welcomed by Ravina’s mum in true Gujarat style, attempting to pinch his nose, much to the amusement of the wedding guests.
Following the Ganesh pooja performed by Ravina’s parents, Ravina made her grand entrance and the wedding guests got their first glimpse of the bride in her beautiful outfit. A really wonderful wedding ceremony followed conducted by a Gujarati priest from Leicester. For the group photos, we tried to create some fun shots which really captured the mood of the guests and the atmosphere of the day, as you can see below.
Even though it was foggy in the morning and there were autumn showers during the day, the sun also made an appearance in the afternoon. These weather combinations, and the stunning surroundings, made for some beautiful portraits of the couple. We also popped into the guest house and got some lovely natural photographs of the couple relaxing for a short time.
Ravina, Rikesh and their families and friends were really welcoming to me and I enjoyed capturing their special days.
Keep a lookout for the blog on their wedding reception which took place following a breathtaking sunset over the grounds of Ladywood Estate, as well as their civil wedding earlier in the summer.
If you’re getting married at Ladywood Estate or in Leicester and are looking for a creative, documentary wedding photographer to tell a story of your day without prompting or posing, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
