As a London based documentary wedding photographer, I take photographs of the special “details” that make the wedding complete. I know that the couple have spent lots of time and money on the these details and they want to have a record of them. One of the “details” is, of course, the cake. During the cake cutting, I take the photo that tells the story. Such photographs seems to be amongst the couple’s favourites and always make it into their wedding album.
So why do I love this photograph? While Ekta and Neeraj were cutting the cake at their wedding reception, after their Asian wedding at Grosvenor House Hotel in London, and were facing their guests, I noticed that Ekta’s mehendi on both hands was clearly displayed, as seen in this photograph. I thought this signified the story of their journey from the Indian wedding earlier in the day, to the reception and cake-cutting, and that’s why I like this photo.
