The gujarati pre-wedding vidhi and haldi are my favourite ceremonies to photograph. The vidhi ceremony usually takes place the day before the Hindu/Indian wedding and marks the beginning of the wedding celebrations. After the vidhi, the haldi ceremony happens and is one of the most important pre-wedding rituals, celebrated at the homes of both the bride and the groom.
I really enjoyed Neva’s vidhi ceremony, which was held in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. After the Ganesh puja, friends and family applied tumeric on Neva. Haldi is turmeric powder which is mixed with rose water and sandalwood. This paste is applied to the arms, head and face of the bride and groom to enhance their complexions and make their skin glow for the big day.
I’ll let these photographs tell the rest of the story…..
