The 2014 wedding season for Colours Photo and Film started with a fun, colourful and musical Somali wedding in North West London. Looking for a wedding photographer, the bride’s sister-in-law found us online and was delighted with our work and our style of wedding photography. It was a wonderful moment to see the delight on the bride’s face when she saw the our wedding albums during the consultation and without any doubts she booked me as her wedding photographer.
Asian weddings are colourful with lots of pre-wedding events and rituals but if anything Somali weddings are even more colourful and musical. I have covered quite a few Somali weddings in and around London and this was another wedding that I was looking forward too.
The Pillar Boutique Hotel is a beautiful wedding venue in Brent, North West London, where Waris got ready. Once she was ready, it was time for to take their portraits. Both Waris and Mahamood looked fabulous and were up for some creative photography. After the photo session, we headed to Cavendish Banqueting in North London for the wedding reception.
On Waris and Mahamood’s arrival at Cavendish Banqueting, the guests greeted them with dancing and signing, which was the main theme of the wedding reception. All throughout the evening, guests in their traditional Somalian dress took to the dance floor. In between, there was the traditional cake cutting and exchange of rings ceremony. Instead of throwing the flower bouquet, Waris handed it to her sister and then the happy couple left the wedding venue.
It was a pleasure to be part of this wonderful wedding and below are some photographs that I would like to share with you.
