In 2014, I will be blogging about “Why do I love this Photograph?” and will provide my reasons why I particularly like the image.
I like to call this one ‘calm before the storm’. The photograph was taken last year at Stanhill Court Hotel, a beautiful country house hotel in Surrey near Gatwick Airport with stunning grounds and incomparable views. The bride is getting ready, comtemplating what is to come in a few moments of silence before the festivities of the civil wedding begin. The image reals reflects my style of photography which is reportage or documentary – capturing the images as the wedding unfolds and telling the story of happened on the special day.
Bridal make-up is done, the dress has been put on and the finishing touches are been given. I could have asked make-up artist to stop, could have cleaned the bed by removing the clothing on it but then the moment would have been disappeared. This photograph was taken with almost perfect natural light coming from the window on the left hand side of the room. Finally, guess what? The photograph was taken from a mirror – it’s a reflection of the bride, hence she wasn’t even aware of me taking this photograph!
