Father and Bride Wedding Photography – Why do I love this photograph?

On the wedding day, the father and the bride have very little time together before the main wedding ceremony. The moment a father walks down the aisle to give his daughter away can be an emotional and yet a joyful moment for him. Likewise, it can be the bride’s proudest moment. As a wedding photographer, I have had the pleasure of photographing this particularly special moment during countless weddings around London, the South East of England and further a field.

I have chosen this week’s picture of the week from a wedding last summer in North London, when the proud father walked into the room with his daughter, Hemali. As the doors of the room opened, the emotion on their faces told the whole story. The proudest father walked slowly with his daughter. Hemali was emotional – she was finally walking down the aisle after all the months of preparation, she was happy at seeing her handsome groom, friends & family in the room, but there was also probably a tinge of sadness at leaving her maternal family and moving on to the next stage in her life as a wife and daughter-in-law.

As a wedding photographer, one who enjoys documenting these moments, I want to dedicate this week’s “Why do I Love this Photograph?” to all the fathers of the brides. Cherish that moment of pride and joy!
