Final Farewell, Final Hug – Why do I love this photograph?

It’s the final farewell at the end of an Indian wedding, after all the ceremonies and rituals, fun and laughter, joy of new knots being tied and grand celebrations. This is the hugely emotional part of the day, where family and friends come together to wish the bride and groom well for their new life. During this sweet yet sorrowful time of the day, the bride is leaving her parent to start the next chapter of her life.

I keep an eye out for the particularly poignant moments such as when the bride is saying her goodbye to her mum and the groom is hugging his father-in-law. The expressions on the parent’s faces tell the whole story and that’s what I love about this photograph. It was taken last year at The Watford Colosseum, a beautifully art deco listed building in Watford and the perfect place to realise your dream Asian wedding.
